Two months ago, my doctor scheduled me for a routine ultrasound. At the end of the ultrasound, I was asked to come back in four weeks for a follow up scan because my baby was measuring small. When I arrived back at work, out of the ordinary, my supervisor asked me how my appointment went. I’m sure she could hear the disappointment in my voice as I told her what happened. After her and I talked for a few moments, I ended our conversation saying, “Just one more thing to…” and before I could finish my statement she said, “PRAY ABOUT!”
Worry (or not trusting God) has been a significant issue in the life of believers. Although we believe in God, often times we focus more on our situation than we do on our Savior. We put the spotlight more on our faultiness than we do in His faithfulness. We try to cover it up by saying “I’m just concerned. Or I have a lot on my mind.” But no matter how we word it, when we worry, we sin. We choose to dwell on the worst-case scenarios and we put our hope in man rather than putting our confidence in God. Philippians 4:6Philippians 4:6
English: Contemporary English Version (1999) - CEV
6 Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.
WP-Bible plugin (TLB) tells us “Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank Him for His answers.” When we live by faith, we believe that God has everything under control and we live out what we believe in our actions, in our thoughts and in our words.
The entire Word of God is a constant encouragement to us as believers to stop worrying. So, today, as I go for another follow up scan, I turn my worries into prayers and I’ve learned that worrying never changes anything but trusting in God always changes everything!
